Asmund Arle was born in 1918 and passed away in 1990. Arle was a Swedish artist who was known for his sculptures, particularly his interpretations of horses. He lived in France during the 1950s and was influenced by the works of August Rodin and Giacometti. 

Arle's father was a despot who often terrorized his children, and Arle sought refuge with the family's horse. However, his father once threw stones at him and the horse while they were plowing, which deeply affected Arle and influenced his future artistry. 

Asmund's sculptures often revolved around the vulnerability of people and animals, expressing the revealing and unprotected aspects of life. He rarely dated his works and often worked on different versions of the same theme over decades. Several of his horse sculptures are public sculptures in various cities in Sweden.
